When doing the calibration, you should not be forcing the machine to move where you want it to move - move the machine with no force, use just two fingers to push it. If you are forcing it to move, the calibration will not be correct. The most important thing is to move the machine straight in X and Y directions when asked. The motors are partially engaged so the machine will move in a perfectly straight line. All you need to do is push it GENTLY.  The most common error is to mark the 24 and 12 inch distances BEFORE moving the machine. If the ruler or measuring tape is not perfectly parallel/perpendicular to the rollers, the measurement will be distorted.

The proper method is:
- Put a piece of masking tape on the fabric at about 2" from the front roller.
- When asked to mark the starting position, poke a hole with the needle and touch Continue.
- When you move the arm to the right, rely on the channel lock and push the arm GENTLY to the right only. Hold the yardstick/tape offset from the needle to allow for the hopping foot, with the 0" offset from the starting point. Move the machine until the needle is at the 24" position. Poke a hole in the fabric and touch Continue.
- Place the measuring device off-set from the needle, the 0" aligned with the needle hole. Push the arm straight back, relying on the channel lock. Move the machine until the needle is opposite the 12" mark. No need to poke a hole this time. Touch Continue.
- Move the needle back diagonally to the starting hole and touch Continue. There should be maximum 0.05" deviation shown on the X/Y displays.
