Shirley is a dealer for IntelliQuilter and Nolting longarm quilting machines. She has been longarm quilting since 2002 and entered the computerized quilting arena with the IntelliQuilter in 2006. Shirley comes to the quilting industry from the business world, and has taught many classes in piecing, appliqué and longarm quilting, as well as IntelliQuilter classes. She recently introduced IQ BOOTCAMP (an intensive multi-day workshop) at her studio in West Virginia.

All Day Class 

Have you always wanted to make a wholecloth quilt, but just didn’t know where to begin?  This fun class begins at ground zero as we explore the many facets of wholecloth quilting.  Learn what IQ can do for you to make your wholecloth quilt a successful experience.  If time permits, we will discuss Irena Bluhm’s technique of adding color to your quilt (after the quilting is finished!).

All Day Class 

Are you ready to improve your IQ knowledge? Are you looking for easy ways of creating beautiful designs, adding a background fill to a block design? Do you want to master the no-sew zone and clipping block functions?   This class was designed with you in mind. Shirley will address all of this and much more in Exploring and Creating with IQ.  Bring your questions for Q and A time at the end of class.

Class Sunbonnet Sue and McTavishing Too $100

Skill Level – Confident Beginner

All Day Class

 

Would you like to learn how to create your own Sunbonnet Sue quilt using IQ to design and layout the quilt?  How about Overall Sam or Thomas the Train?  You and your IQ can create a quilt design of your choice using these concepts and techniques.  Learn how to transfer the quilt designs to fabric as we discuss realigning, line pattern, converting blocks to patterns, etc.  Know the pitfalls before you begin this special wholecloth quilt design.  The designs are free, and should be downloaded before you come to class.

Welcome to our website!

It is our goal to create an online community for our guests and friends to fulfill your quilting needs.  Create an account to access the online chat, forums, or online shopping.  We will be adding articles which will contain how-to videos.  A calendar has been setup off the main menu for easy access to see when and where we will be teaching classes or installing longarm machines or IQs.  The events link on the main menu will allow you to register for classes and show available seating.

McTavishing Sue (MQU Article Designs)

Machine Quilting Unlimited mailed to subscribers early March.  In this issue I have an article titled I Wanted It All.  The article features IntelliQuilter capabilities in designing and stitching a whole cloth quilt.  I used many features to create the McTavished Sue block which are explained in the article.  You can order a single copy of the issue at www.mqumag.com

The two designs used to create the block are available for download through our Online Shop.  These designs are being provided free to you as our way of saying thank you for visiting our new website.

Here are the steps to the download:

  • Click on Online Shop on the left menu panel
  • Click on Downloads
  • Click on Add to Cart (you will see a pop up window)
  • Click on Cart in the Pop up window or if you miss the window, you can use the cart links in the right side of the screen
  • Click on Checkout
  • Click on Confirm Order
  • Wait for an e-mail with confirmation and a 2nd e-mail with the download link
  • Click on link in 2nd e-mail which will return you to our website and initiate the download
  • Click on Save to save the file
